Mastering the Jedi arts, especially the Light Side, takes a great deal of tenacity, calm, serenity, concentration, and an openness to things that might seem impossible. In most cases, any given Apprentice has trouble with one or more of those requirements. That is why they may need to rely on their instructor, usually a Jedi Master, to guide them through the rough spots in their journey towards becoming a Jedi.
